Global Missions
AFRICA
Steve & Amy Nehlsen serve with the C&MA in Ouagadougou, the capital of Burkina Faso, west Africa. This is an extremely poor nation of nearly 14 million people with a tremendous number of challenges, including poor roads, drought, poor soil, few natural resources, and high AIDS mortality, and an infant mortality rate of nearly 10% and life expectancy of less than 44 years. South Hills is one of 8-10 organizations in North America that partners with teams/churches in Ouagadougou, with the goal of seeing 15-20 new churches established.
John & Jenny were part of our South Hills family before their move to serve in Senegal. They are house parents to 12 girls at a boarding school for the children of Christian & Missionary Alliance missionaries who are serving to share the Gospel in West Africa. (We have withheld their last name to protect their safety.)
DOMINICAN REPUBLIC
Alan & Jackie Perez ar
e part of the G.O. Ministries team serving the Dominican Republic and Haiti. Alan’s sports ministry shares the Gospel with hundreds of kids yearly through basketball, soccer, volleyball, and baseball. Alan also translates for short-term teams in medical and dental clinics and G.O.’s on-going pastor training seminars. Jackie, a member of South Hills, is a missionary with G.O. Ministries, and she coordinates nearly 50 short-term mission teams each year from all over the US to serve in the Dominican Republic. She also coordinates the internship program for those wanting to serve for a more extended period of time. Alan and Jackie are passionate about challenging team members towards a deeper global perspective.
